Katerina Souponetsky is a composer, pianist, producer, and educator whose music bridges sharp intellect with deep emotional resonance. Described as “quick-witted, tightly constructed, and ruefully introspective, with propulsive, jazzy rhythms and suave textures” (The Oregonian), her work has been performed across the globe—from The Louvre and Bargemusic to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Dresden Music Festival.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, and Manhattan School of Music, Katerina has received commissions from Chamber Music Northwest (where she was the first young composer-in-residence), Curtis On Tour, and the Portland Chamber Orchestra, among others. As a solo pianist, she was a winner of the MTNA State Piano Competition and DownBeat Magazine’s Student Music Award while still in high school. Her original works have been featured at Fontainebleau Schools, Ten Grands (as a 3-time guest artist), Atlantic Music Festival, and Curtis Summerfest.
Katerina is also a dedicated educator with over 15 years of experience teaching piano, composition, and music theory. She has taught at the University of the Arts, Curtis Institute’s Young Artist Summer Program, and through private mentorship. Known for her creative, joyful, and highly personalized teaching style, she helps students of all levels build a deep, well-rounded foundation in musicianship.
Now a driving force in Philadelphia’s music scene, she fuses her classical roots with modern genres, working with top artists and producers. She’s performed with percussionist Pablo Batista, collaborated with house music DJ/producer Ben Arsenal for Departed, and creates genre-fluid pop with Sakred Productions and The Ring Music Group. Her versatility shines in jazz fusion, R&B, and house music, lighting up stages like The Ave Live, Kimmel Center, Vinyl, Superior Ingredients, Beardfest, and Fabrika.
She is also one half of the singer-producer duo MONA&KAT, which holds a monthly residency at the Four Seasons, bringing their signature blend of cinematic, soulful, and rhythmically intricate sound to an upscale audience. Katerina also co-founded MoKa Sky Records with her partner MONA, where she works as a producer and mixing engineer.
With a sound that bridges tradition and innovation, Katerina brings unique artistry to every performance, production, and lesson.
